Jetgrouting at the historical Bijloke site

Stabilising a subsided wing of the Pauli building on the Bijloke site in Ghent: that was the assignment.

We chose to underpin the existing foundations of the subsided building by using jet grout piles. These transferred the loads from the building to the deeper load-bearing soil layers.

By using this technique, the existing foundations were underpinned and the supporting structure of the existing building was reused. This way the impact of the work on the historic building could be kept to a minimum, which was appreciated by the heritage services.
