Underpinning the castle's foundation wall
Castle foundation wall, Horst (BE)
Horst’s historic castle had fallen into disrepair over the years and had also increasingly subsided into the weak subsoil.
As part of the stabilization works, the existing foundation walls were first consolidated by injection with a ternary grout to improve their structural integrity. Following this, the foundation walls were underpinned by discrete jet grout piles installed into the deeper load-bearing soil layers.
In addition, for the access bridge, a solution based on micropiles was developed and executed by Future Foundations, ensuring a safe and controlled transfer of loads while respecting the sensitivity of the historic structure and its surrounding environment.
