Compensation grouting for track stabilisation

At the railway station of Bracquegnies, a localised settlement occurred in the track embankment following a ground instability in the railway talus. As a result, the rail infrastructure experienced a measurable loss of level, requiring immediate remediation under strict operational constraints.

Future Foundations was engaged to resolve the settlement while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing train traffic. Given the requirement to maintain railway operations throughout the works, a solution based on compensation grouting was selected.

The works commenced with the execution of several horizontal boreholes drilled at sufficient depth beneath the railway track. These served as access paths for controlled grout injections. In a subsequent phase, preparatory grouting was carried out to fill voids and re-establish stress within the ground mass, effectively reactivating support conditions beneath the track.

In the final stage, precise compensation grouting was performed to correct the surface settlement in a controlled and incremental manner. Continuous monitoring and real-time measurements ensured that ground movements remained within strict tolerances, allowing train services to continue operating safely during the entire intervention.

Through a carefully controlled execution strategy and high-precision monitoring, Future Foundations successfully stabilised the railway infrastructure and restored track geometry without interruption to rail traffic.
