At the historic Handelsbeurs in Antwerp, Future Foundations carried out highly specialized jacking works as part of the complex underground construction and foundation reinforcement program. The project involved the realization of three underground parking levels beneath the existing protected monument while preserving the integrity of the historic structure.

Our team designed and executed a controlled hydraulic jacking system to temporarily support and stabilize critical structural elements during the phased excavation works. By continuously monitoring settlements and load redistribution at millimetre precision, we were able to compensate for movements in real time and safeguard the neo-gothic structure throughout the construction process.

Combined with large-diameter jet grout underpinning piles and a carefully engineered excavation sequence, the jacking works enabled excavation beneath the existing building without damage to the historically valuable monument. This project demonstrates Future Foundations’ expertise in complex geotechnical solutions for sensitive urban and heritage environments.
