Jet grout piles to deepen an exiting quay
The draught of an existing quay at Abidjan harbour (Ivory Coast) required an increase from 10 to 13.5 metres so that larger ships could dock. Future Foundations was responsible for both the design and execution of this work.
The existing weight wall was pierced over a height of 13 metres and then deepened using large-diameter jet grout piles.
The works were organised in such a way that the quay could remain in service. There was only minimal disruption to the operation of quay, which was greatly appreciated by the client - resulting in an extension of the works.
