Horizontal injections above underground railway
Underground rail link, Brussels (BE)
The Schuman Josaphat rail link to be built in the centre of Brussels was relatively shallow in relation to the buildings above it. As a result, the construction of this rail link would cause unacceptable settlements on the surface, causing damage to the houses above.
To keep these settlements under control, horizontal injections were implemented. 3,500 metres of horizontal injection pipes were placed in the subsoil, through which several injections were carried out over a year and a half.
This technique succeeded in safeguarding the buildings above from damage.
