The Oosterweelproject (Oosterweel link) is a major infrastructure project in Antwerp aimed at completing the northern section of the Ring Road. Due to its scale and complexity, it plays a key role in improving mobility in and around the city.
Efforts are being made to limit disruption by applying modern construction techniques and working with experienced, reliable partners.
Future Foundations is proud to contribute to this project through the installation of various types of sheet piles, including retaining and temporary support structures for excavation works along the E19 towards Merksem. Our scope involves working in technically demanding environments, often in close proximity to ongoing traffic and existing infrastructure.
These sheet pile installations are essential for ensuring ground stability and safe excavation, particularly in confined urban areas. Despite the challenging conditions, careful planning and strict safety procedures allowed us to complete our works without incident and without disrupting traffic on the busy ring road.
At Future Foundations, we believe that complex infrastructure requires more than just standard equipment, it requires a vision. That is why we are not only providing sheet piling services for the Oosterweel project, but also pioneering new technologies on-site.
At the R1 North Tunnel, we have deployed The Cube System, a miniaturised slurry wall machine we co-developed with Bauer Maschinen GmbH. This compact powerhouse is currently constructing an underground polder wall to safeguard the tunnel and its environment from groundwater. It’s proof that even in the most restricted spaces, Future Foundations can deliver massive results.
In addition, we also carry out jet-grouting, soil nailing/micro piling, compensation grouting and ground anchor works as part of our integrated ground engineering approach, ensuring a comprehensive and reliable solution for complex infrastructure challenges.
